Sunday in Abu Dhabi and we thought we'd check out Ferrari World. It claims to be the world's largest indoor theme park. I'm not a huge fan of theme parks, but still, this one was kind of disappointing.
There were two main rides (both of which were actually outside) and then inside it was just really a large empty space. There were a few Ferraris dotted around the place, but honestly they could have made much more of it. I'm just glad that we didn't pay to get in.
Criticism aside, it wouldn't have been right to be there and not try out the 'World's Fastest Rollercoaster'. According to the claims, the ride accelerates up to 240 km/h in 5 seconds and riders get to experience g-forces up to 4.8. Well right or wrong, I'm not crazy and I wasn't going on that. Jenny, however, not an ounce of sense, so we headed there first.
I waited outside and watched from the viewing platform. The video doesn't really do it justice as to how fast the ride actually goes, but I'm sure you get the idea.
After lunch, we headed back to the circuit to catch the main event. We took our seat on the Abu Dhabi Hill, where you can see the straight between the West and the North grandstand. After all the formalities and the Etihad flyover (a bit random), the final race of the 2014 season started at 5pm.
As soon as it was officially announced that Lewis Hamilton had won, fireworks started going off from each of the five grandstands. They were amazing and seemed to last forever - nothing less than to be expected from the Emirates.
The concluding concert on the Sunday evening was the kick off of the Who's 50th anniversary tour. Great performance and light displays, but it probably shows my age - in a good way - that I only really knew a couple of their songs. The obvious one being the soundtrack for CSI!
